(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Fire Department says State Street is closed between Hawthorne and Airport Road due to a 4 inch gas line that was cut earlier this afternoon. At 4:30 PM, Salem Fire issued additional information for local motorists; They say the gas line has been clamped off by crews that are on scene. Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says State Street will remain closed for approximately 20 minutes. It was not clear exactly how the gas line break happened or whether there were any injuries. Again, motorists should avoid the area as traffic is basically halted because of the gas line incident. Articles for June 6, 2007 | Articles for June 7, 2007 | Articles for June 8, 2007 | Quick Links
