Iran and Libya: Musical Chairs, Enemy to Ally

Rhetoric Aside, Fact Support US/Iran Detente - Giving Seymour Hersch “Credit Due”

(CINCINNATI ) - When New Yorker Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Seymour Hersch, leaked our new NIE (National Intelligence Assessment) proving that Iran has no nuclear weapons program, no underground weapons development centers and no aggressive intentions of any kind, few were surprised. Few saw it.

News suppression is a way of life in the United States. Our 2007 NIE said the same thing. What is different is that this one, as Hersch points out, is based on deep penetration of Iran, teams on the ground, far more advanced surveillance techniques, in fact we have spies everywhere in Iran.

In fact, our National Intelligence Assessment finds no significant area of conflict between the United States and Iran whatsoever, no basis for the continual flow of bellicosity from Washington, the threats, the moves supporting sanctions against Iran, all of it is based on thin air, wild conjecture and conspiracy theory.

What it smells of is another of President Obama’s failures to derail the Bush era “runaway train” of phony terrorism, oil price manipulation and unconstitutional use of police state methods at home and abroad.

What has Iran done? Ahmadinejad, better informed than most 3rd world leaders, which isn’t saying much, uses the information he does have to point out American hypocrisy.

His statements about 9/11 in front of the United Nations were “spot on,” saying exactly what millions of Americans, now most likely a significant majority, had hoped President Obama would himself announce. We heard it from Ahmadinejad instead. Too many things he says check out while the things our own leaders say don’t.

His information, of course, comes, to a large degree, from American military and intelligence analysts shunned by the mainstream media. Whether world hero or bizarre little man holding together a nation of 90 million people under the titular rule of a handful of backward religious fanatics, one thing is for sure, the only threat he represents is to America’s mythological post 9/11 world view.

This is where America is most vulnerable and it is the only real weapon Iran has. Militarily, with some noted exceptions, they are helpless.

What Iran can do is close the Straits of Hormuz by sinking oil tankers. Nobody could stop them, no invasion, no bombing campaign, no “shock and awe.” If Hormuz falls and the world’s oil supply dries up, the dollar crashes immediately. Gasoline doubles, a very real $8 a gallon. Iran has no interest in doing this.

Their closest ally is China, a nation totally dependent on keeping the dollar healthy. China holds far more dollars than anyone, even America.

Then who, why? Who is pushing this and what is their purpose?

Iran has been isolated for a very long time. They grow their own food, are drowning in money, drowning in oil and, besides, as they are ruled by Mullah’s from the Middle Ages, America can’t bomb them there, they might actually like it.

With no reason to attack Iran, a country that has had a long affinity to the United States, something we will look at later, a country incapable of attacking any neighbor, no large ships, no long range attack planes, no air transport capability, no nuclear weapons as we are again and again informed by our most trusted sources, then why the talk?

A bit ago, I mentioned that political leaders in the 3rd world, not just the little countries mind you but big ones as well are more than a bit uninformed. The majority, if you can believe this, get 100% of their news from the BBC. Any nation that looks beyond controlled news and mythology, the government approved conspiracy theories peddled by the spewage of the post Bush/Blair era, are considered pariahs.

The truth is out there.

Chavez of Venezuela knows some of it, talks occasionally as does Gaddafi, who takes joy in tweaking Israel from time to time in his own harmless way.

Watch Colonel Gaddafi on Larry King dance around the truth, continually hedging, continually dodging questions like a boxer, knowing that if he crosses that imaginary line, the one that opens the door to 9/11 just too far, his symbiotic relationship with Israel, will crumble.

As late as 2006, Libya was still manufacturing chemical weapons but building new facilities.  What Libya did do was turn much of their oil and gas exploration and production over to companies directly tied to friends of President Bush, large Republican contributors and, in particular to Haliburton, a company once run by former Vice President Cheney. 

Libya was not only allowed to keep all its chemical weapons, which include small stocks of VX gas, small but enough to kill all life on earth, but retrain their nuclear program as well.

When Egypt’s Mubarak felt his grip on Egypt loosening, he called his friends in Tel Aviv. Three planeloads of riot gear and ‘other materials’ arrived almost immediately. When Gaddafi felt his grip on Libya loosening, he called his friends in Tel Aviv. Unlike Mubarak, publicly friendly with Israel, Gaddafi has publicly bashed Israel for decades.

In fact, Gaddafi is the only world leader than publicly threatens Israel but maintained, until recently, a very warm relationship with the United States. Saddam was removed because of far more moderate statements than Gaddafi makes daily. Iran faces “nuclear castration” for threatening to see “Zionism erased from the sands of time.”

It is possible, even likely that Libya has nuclear weapons and has had for over 25 years.

Why can Gaddafi keep them, a Gaddafi now subject to daily bombing by NATO? Gaddafi knows he has negotiating power simply because he has kept his lines of communication open with Tel Aviv, where America’s congress gets its marching orders. When attacked, Saddam sent rockets to Israel. Gaddafi still sends roses and good wishes. Will this save him? The smart money says “yes.”

Though South Africa says it dumped the chemical weapons it developed with Israel into the ocean, weapons that had been used in Angola against civilians, sources indicate that 3 barrels of VX gas were transferred to Libya. As late as 2004, Israeli Johan Meyer was arrested in South Africa for selling weapons grade nuclear centrifuges to Libya. Meyer eluded custody and currently resides in Israel.

By 2004, Libya was said to have ended all nuclear, biological and chemical programs, though they were spared the rigorous inspections to which Iraq had been subjected. However, last month, the British reported that Libya’s program had not been “mothballed” as indicated:

Despite a promise in 2003 to give up weapons of mass destruction, Gaddafi is thought to have retained as much as 14 tons of the chemicals required to create mustard gas.

The stocks are said to be stored in secret secure facilities in the Libyan desert. The chemicals would need to be mixed and loaded into shells before they could be used as weapons, but are “still a concern,” said a senior British government source. “We want to make sure they’re destroyed.”

BACKGROUND

Few in the west know much of relations with Libya other than the 1986 bombing of Tripoli by the US or the Lockerbie crash.  America and Gaddafi’s Libya have a history, suppressed, censored and hidden away that is evidence of American complicity in terrorism and assassinations when someone else could be blamed.  Anyone remember America’s close friend and Bush family business partner Noriega of Panama?  Osama bin Laden was a close friend of America too, a Bush family business partner.  Go back far enough and you will learn that Adolf Hitler was a Bush family business partner also.  A pattern?

George Bush’s grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

His business dealings, which continued until his company’s assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy.

The evidence has also prompted one former US Nazi war crimes prosecutor to argue that the late senator’s action should have been grounds for prosecution for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

With Libya, the covert relationship with the United States, now undergoing its second period of “unpleasantness” began in the 1970s:

Libya turned to the US in the early 70s, CIA Director Richard Helms established an operations center for Southern Europe and North Africa and, under the cover of “rogue operations,” infiltrated terrorist groups across Europe from Red Brigades to the IRA.

Iran has an unpleasant history with the US dating back to the early 1950s.  Iran’s freely elected Premier, Mosaddeq, objected to “agreements” that gave British Petroleum control over Iran’s oil resources, free to drill where they wish, take what they want and pay or not depending on whim.

This “relationship” was later repeated by American companies operating in Iraq after the 2003 occupation. Oil was loaded onto tankers, shipped away, bribes were paid, thousands died and oil companies made billions while gasoline prices in the US soared. The oil, of course, went largely unpaid for unless you count blood as payment.

In Iran, the CIA decided Mosaddeq had to go. In order to arrange this, the CIA began terror operations, bombings of public transportation and such. These bombings were blamed on supporters of Mosaddeq and he was removed from office and replaced by the Shah, an American “friend” who managed a 40 year reign of terror imprisoning and torturing tens of thousands and murdering countless.

The CIA operations in Iran closely resembled, curiously so, the 7/7 bombings in London now being scrutinized as “false flag” operations supporting the tenancy of Tony Blair at Number 10.

The story has been censored from the American media. Few Americans know of or remember the “British 9/11.” Fewer still are aware that a powerful legal case has been made showing full government complicity in the planning and execution of the attack and the extent the British government has gone to in order to suppress information about one of the worst kept secrets in history. The film “Ripple Effect,” considered a threat to British “security” led to one of the most incomprehensible criminal cases in recent years.

On July 7, 2005, Britain suffered its largest terror attack, what they call “7/7,” their “9/11.” However, a wealth of evidence, much incontrovertible, has shown these terror attacks to have been something else, “false flag” terror meant to support the Blair government’s policy of continuing and even expand its participation in the “Global War on Terror.”

The 4 Muslim “suicide bombers” once believed responsible for the incident are now believed to have been recruited as part of a well documented mock terror drill scheduled for that day that included 1000 participants, some of them paid actors hired to carry dummy explosives.
