Oregon Woman Accused of Killing Mother-to-Be & Taking Her Baby (UPDATE)

Detectives determined that the victim, a 21-year old Tigard woman, was killed by homicidal violence and her unborn male child did not survive.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - In a bizarre and tragic, developing story, Portland Police have identified a woman whose body was found in the crawlspace of a home in the Community of Marlene Village today.

Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says 21-yer old Heather Megan Snively had recently moved to the Tigard area from Maryland. Her next of kin have been notified.

Thompson says the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has taken a female suspect into custody and charged her with murder.

Records indicate that Friday at 2:42 p.m., a 911 call was placed to the Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency to report a new born baby in distress at 13380 NW Mill Creek Drive.

Members of Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue responded to the medical call and found a man and woman in the house with a new born child who was not breathing.

"The man was performing CPR on the child at the direction of the 911 personnel. The woman, 28-year old Korena Elaine Roberts, told the rescuers that she had just delivered the child."

Thompson says rescuers observed a large amount of blood in the house and decided to quickly send the child and Ms. Roberts to St. Vincent’s Hospital.

"Doctors at the hospital were not able to revive the baby, they also discovered that Ms. Roberts had not delivered a child at anytime in the recent past," Thompson said.

"At 4:37 p.m., The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was called to respond to the hospital and gained information that led them to believe that there may be at least one injured person at the Mill Creek address."

That is when Sheriff’s deputies returned to the Mill Creek Address and entered the house looking for anyone who might be injured.

"They found a deceased 21-year-old woman in the crawlspace of the house and no other people in the house. Detectives from the Washington County Major Crimes Team were called to the scene and eventually obtained a search warrant."

Thompson says the Washington County Forensics Science Unit also responded to the scene along with the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team.

"At about 5:45 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Ms. Roberts and later charged her with Murder. She is being held without bail."

Detectives determined that Heather Snively was killed by homicidal violence and her unborn male child did not survive, Thompson said.

They are now waiting for the results of the autopsy to determine how the child was delivered.

Thompson says that at about 11:00 p.m. last night, Heather Snively’s boyfriend, and father of their child, reported that she was missing and she was in her third trimester of pregnancy.

Detectives were able to determine that the victim and Ms Snivley were the same person.

Thompson stresses that this is an active investigation and many of the details will not be released at this time.

you know who i feal realy sorry for is the hubbie he he has had his wife and new born baby taken away from him by this monster at least the mother and child can be together where ever that may be.

My heart goes out to the friends and family of Heather Meagan Snively, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope Christopher makes it though this in one piece, what a blow, to loose his girlfriend and child to a sad pathetic evil woman. God Bless you all. R.I.P. Heather and John Steven.

I had Heather in my sunday school class years ago then she started attending our Youth group at the church. Heather was such a pleasant girl and really turned her life around. I feel so sorry for her family and for her boyfriend. My heart and prayers go out to them at this difficult time. I hope that this young lady is put behind bars for a very long time. That stupid show Private Practice on ABC showed a very similar set of circumstances unfold. There are people demented enough to use a show as a springboard for conducting such a haneous crime.

Heather was by far one of the most genuine people I have ever met. She was a very dear friend to me...like a sister. She helped me raise my kids, and had an unconditional glow with the fact she was about to be a Mommy herself. She and Jonathon are angels among us and will be forever missed and trully loved. Because of this psycho who apparently has no sense of humanity I have lost a truly dear friend of mine . Heather was so happy that she was preg and so close to having her son we talked all the time on the phone about our babys and how much we were gonna show them to each other i just want everyone to no heather was a good hearted person she was really seen the good in people . and ill always have our memories i just wish this never happend i love u so much and i hope to see u one day

Amber, of course she did it. The baby wasn't hers yet she said she gave birth to it and there was blood everywhere. If she didn't do it, who the heck did? If there was someone else who was suspect, don't you think s/he would have been arrested?

I am glad they caught her, look at her, she looks psycho. I feel so bad for the young mother. She was probably so excited to start her new life and have her child and this monster took that from her. It's so sad.
