(SALEM, Ore.) - In June, Ocean Salmon Sport Seasons began up and down the Oregon Coast. Ocean coho angling continues to improve with anglers on the north and central coast averaging one to two fish each. As the catch rate improves, anglers are reminded of the rules relating to the ocean sport salmon seasons. In all ocean waters: * All retained coho must have a healed adipose fin clip * No more than two single point barbless hooks are required From Leadbetter Point, Washington to Cape Falcon, Oregon: * The limit is two adult salmon per day, only one of which can be a Chinook * Minimum sizes for coho are 16", Chinook – 24", and Steelhead -20" * The season is open 7 days per week and closed in the Columbia River Control Zone From Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain: * The limit is three adult salmon per day * Retention of Chinook Salmon is prohibited in this area * Beginning September 1st, the limit will be two salmon per day * Minimum sizes are Coho – 16" and Steelhead – 20" From Humbug Mountain to the Oregon / California Border: * The limit is two adult salmon per day * Retention of Chinook Salmon is prohibited in this area * Retention of Coho closes August 29th, depending on the quota * Minimum sizes are Coho – 16" and Steelhead – 20" For more information and in-season updates, contact the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife Marine Resources Program at (541)867-4741 or on the web at dfw.state.or.us/MRP/salmon/.
