(BOISE, Idaho ) - Justin Marra's leadoff bottom of the eighth inning home run lifts Boise to a come-from-behind win over Salem-Keizer 7-6 Monday night on the final day of the Northwest League first half in front of 1,814 at Memorial Stadium. The Hawks were down 5-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning but had a five-run inning to grab the lead from the Volcanoes. After Nick Gonzalez exited allowing just one unearned run with one hit through the first five innings of the ballgame, Armando Paniagua entered in relief to start the home-half of the sixth inning. Jeffrey Baez walked on four pitches and Rashad Crawford singled. with Chesny Young striking out for the first out of the inning, the bases were loaded via a Marra walk. Paniagua was pulled at that point giving way for E.J. Encinosa. Jesse Hodges hit a sac fly to right field scoring Baez. Encinosa re-loaded the bases before Danny Canela came to the plate. The catcher launched a left-center double that scored three and gave the Hawks the 6-5 lead. Salem-Keizer tied the game in the top of the seventh inning via a Jonathan Jones two-out RBI double to right-center. Eury Sanchez came out for his second full inning of relief to stat the eighth and allowed the go-ahead homer to Marra. The Volcanoes jumped out early via a Fargas leadoff home run during the first at bat of the game. Three more runs would score on two hits and three walks from Boise starter Erick Leal, who was forced out after just eight batters in his outing. The Volcanoes lead 4-1 after the first inning as Baez scored an unearned run in the bottom half of the first inning. The Volcanoes finished the first half of the Northwest League season 18-20.
