(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - UPDATE: 11:40 p.m. The recently reported missing Oregon City woman has been located by California Highway Patrol, while attempting to cross into the State of California, at the I-5 border crossing. Jean Knopf is safe and will be provided for and returned home. Knopf was indeed disoriented and indicated to authorities she was attempting to return to her residence in Oregon City. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office wishes to thank everyone for their assistance while attempting to locate this now - safely located - missing and endangered person. ***************Original story****************** The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from media and the public with an ongoing effort to locate a missing person identified as 82-year old Jean Ernestine Knopf; who has recently been diagnosed with dementia. Jean Knopf of Oregon City, had dinner Monday evening, July 20th 2009 at Shari's Restaurant, in the Oregon City Shopping Center. Jean Knopf is reported to have driven her friend home from the restaurant and was last observed departing the area of SE Meldrum, near Gladstone, at 8:30 p.m. Monday evening. Jean Knopf was scheduled to visit with her family today, Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at noon. When relatives inquired at the Jean Knopf residence in Oregon City at noon, the home was secure; however, Jean Knopf and her automobile were not present and both remain unaccounted for at this time. The family is worried about the welfare of 82-year-old, Jean Knopf and has reported their concern to the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office has entered Jean Knopf as a missing person and endangered person into the law-enforcement data system. Jean Knopf owns and operates an automobile described as a: Green, 1998, Buick, Park Avenue, 4-door sedan; with an Oregon license plate displayed as WQM-819. This is the same automobile she was last observed operating on Monday evening while departing the Gladstone area, with the intended destination to her residence in Oregon City. Jean Knopf is featured in the attached photo images. Knopf is also present in one of these photographs with her described vehicle in the background. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is encouraging the public to be aware of this missing and endangered person and to alert law-enforcement immediately if sighted. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information concerning this crime to the contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office's.
