Salem Woman Dies From Crash Injuries

Investigators think alcohol was involved, but no charges had been filed as of Monday night.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem police say the victim of a Fourth of July head-on crash died on Saturday and they are now investigating possible drunk driving charges in the case.

24-year-old Micaela Maestas, died at OHSU in Portland after injuries she sustained in the crash which occurred just after 1:30 AM on Liberty Road South.

Police say 21-year old Kevin Cochran was driving north in a 2004 Dodge Dakota when it crossed into the southbound lanes, crashed head-on into a 2003 Honda Civic and then rolled over.

The driver of the Honda, 21-year old Katie Malone, and Cochran were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators think alcohol was involved, but no charges had been filed as of Monday night.
