(MONMOUTH, Ore. ) - The Western Oregon University football team had four student-athletes named to the Beyond Sports Network Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference team. Ryan Bergman, Tyrell Williams, Kraig Akins and Shane Kuenzi all made the preseason annual list by the scouting service, BSN. The selections were made by the BSN staff based on returning performers from the 2013 GNAC All Conference Football Team, game evaluations, and overall statistics. Bergman was selected as a quarterback on the list. The senior was second in the GNAC last season with 288.2 total yards of offense per contest. He led the conference averaging 293.2 passing yards per outing. Williams was selected as a wide receiver on the team. Also an incoming senior, he was tabbed first team All-GNAC for the second time following the 2013 season. Williams pulled in 49 catches last season for 849 yards. His 17.3 yards per catch was second in the conference. On the defensive side of the ball, Akins was named to the defensive line. He was named the conference Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2013. He finished the season as the conference leader in tackles for loss (16) and tied for the lead in forced fumbles with four. The junior also ranked second in sacks (8) and seventh in tackles (70). He was the Wolves' lone unanimous first team selection. Kuenzi, a linebacker, was named to the team after his first team All-GNAC selection in 2013. The Salem, Ore. native, had 105 tackles, with 50 being solo. His 9.5 tackles per game average were fourth in the conference. Source: WOU Athletics _________________________________________
