(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - An 11-year old girl was critically injured Thursday morning when the truck she was a passenger in collided with the back of a flatbed semi-trailer slowing for other traffic northbound on Interstate 5 north of Woodburn. At approximately 11:00 AM a commercial truck pulling a flatbed semi-trailer driven by Ronald Wilson, age 37, from Mulino, was northbound on Interstate near milepost 274 approaching the exit lane for truck traffic to pull into the northbound truck scales. As Wilson's truck / semi-trailer were slowing, a northbound 2004 Nissan Cargo truck driven by Ivan Lozovinskiy, age 44, from southeast Portland, crashed into the back of the flatbed semi-trailer. After impact, both vehicles continued forward over several hundred feet before stopping. Lozovinskiy was using safety restraints and had not apparent injury. His daughter, Kristina Lozovinskiy, age 11, was using safety restraints and was critically injured. Woodburn Fire Department personnel, assisted by other local fire agency personnel, extricated Kristina from the truck. She was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. Wilson received no known injury. Oregon State Police troopers from the Salem Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Troopers from the Tualatin and Portland area offices assisted. ODOT, Woodburn Police Department, and several other local emergency response agencies assisted at the scene. All lanes were closed until about 12:15 PM when two northbound lanes were opened. The remaining northbound lane was opened about 2:00 PM. Articles for July 11, 2007 | Articles for July 12, 2007 | Articles for July 13, 2007 | googlec507860f6901db00.html Quick Links
