(WASHINGTON D.C.) - The Dongria Kondh tribe in India call themselves the "protector of streams." But their streams -- and their entire way of life -- are threatened by a British mining company out to destroy their ancestral lands for profits. The petition site Care2 is enlisting the help of those who want to help the Dongria Kondh save their home. They report that more than 8,000 Dongria tribesmen farm the slopes, gather wild fruit in the forests, and worship in the sacred mountains. "But to the mining company, the hills are just a source of aluminum ore ripe for exploitation," Care2 stated in a news release. Despite a government investigation that warned the mine could "lead to the destruction of the Dongria Kondh [as a people]", India's prime minister supports the project. "The Indian government needs to know the world is watching. Tell the Indian PM to stop the Vedanta mine and save the Dongria Kondh people." Is is supported by who? Oh!India's prime minister supports the project. Certainly it is. I wonder how many of the PM's family and friends are employed by the mining company? How many outside of India already have jobs lined up? Surely India is not the only place they do business. Just like corruption in the rest of the world India is no different. Question, what is the one language understood by every nation on planet earth? Answer, the language of payoffs. Euros, Denarius, Pesos just plain old Money.
