Possible Explosive 'Device' has Large Area in Marion County Blocked OffSalem-News.comWe understand the device was located in an area of farmland.
(SALEM) - Officials are on the scene of a possible explosive device near the rural community of Scotts Mills, Oregon. Salem-News.com's Jerry Freeman is on the scene at this time. We know the location of the device is on Hwy 213 between Mt Angel Scotts Mills Road and Wagon Road NE. The area is cordoned off and officials are turning vehicles around. Detours are being established and the public is advised to avoid the area until further notice. We have been able to confirm that a press conference will be held soon and officials will let us know what is taking place. Oregon State Police bomb squad is in the area and a number of other agencies are assisting. With regard to closures in the vicinity of Scotts Mills, we are told both Abiqua Road and Cascade Highway are affected, and also Drake Road to the north of the incident. Abiqua Road to the south is also closed. We understand the device was located in an area of farmland.
