Oregon Candidate Esterman Hopes to be State's Second Independent Governor

"I'm a commoner running for Governor and that's my main issue" - Richard Esterman.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon has a new opportunity, and his name is Richard Esterman. This resident of Sisters, Oregon is running for the office of Governor. He's a photographer and very much considers his role in life to be that of the common citizen.

Esterman will run as an independent candidate against John Kitzhaber on the Democratic side, and Chris Dudley on the GOP side.

As far as his chances as an Independent go, this candidate believes his aspirations carry a degree of reality. He says it would not be the first time in Oregon.

"Well actually there was an independent governor, one in the whole history, and that was from 1931-1935, Julius Meyer; otherwise there have been 20 Republicans and 21 Democrats."

He says the people of this state need far more representation, and far less red tape. It needs to be that way he says, for those who pay the bills and keep Oregon alive and moving. He believes in less government and Esterman has plans if elected, to seriously tighten Oregon's belt on an economic level.

"When the government has a shortfall on money or financial problems, the government always takes away schools, police, fire, and picks on the elderly. That's ridiculous, if I get in there it's going to stop, it's not going to happen, it's called tightening the government's belt and being held accountable and being responsible."

This man reminds me of a working class Jesse Ventura. He even has the pony tail! Minnesota did great under Jesse Ventura who was an "independant"
