Helicopter Crashes in Grays Harbor: Both People Survive (VIDEO)

It was reported that the passenger survived the crash into the water without being injured. The pilot however, did reportedly suffer minor injuries.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - The Coast Guard says a privately owned helicopter crashed into the shallow waters of Grays Harbor, Washington sometime before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7th 2009.

It happened about a mile north of Ocean Shores, Washington.

Ensign Charles Taylor with the Coast Guard in Astoria, Oregon, says a "Good Samaritan" located and recovered the two people aboard the helicopter at approximately 6:00 a.m.

It was reported that the passenger survived the crash into the water without being injured. The pilot however, did reportedly suffer minor injuries.

A Coast Guard MH-60 helicopter crew from Group/Air Station Astoria confirmed that a light sheen was spotted but quickly dissipated.

The helicopter has been removed from the water, and it was determined there was minimal threat to the environment.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
