(DETROIT OR) - A Salem man died when his motorcycle collided with a pickup on Brietenbush Road (Road 46) 16 miles North East of Detroit Oregon. Marion County Deputies were called to the scene at about 6:00pm on Friday July 5th. Upon arrival, they found that the driver of a 2009 Yamaha Motorcycle had collided with 1999 Toyota Tacoma Pickup. The crash caused both vehicles to catch on fire. The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling northeast on Brietenbush Road when he lost control and collided with the pickup. The motorcyclist Roger Lambert, 54, of Salem was deceased at the scene. Brietenbush Road is a popular road for motorcyclists during the summer months as It has sharp turns and sudden elevation changes. The driver of the pickup was identified as Zachary Mauser, 22, from Scio Oregon. The passenger of the pickup was identified as Mary Chapman, 18, from Lebanon Oregon. Neither the driver nor passenger of the pickup was injured. The Marion County Sheriff's Office is continuing this investigation and more details will be made available at a later time.
