Shaw Named New Acrobatics and Tumbling Coach at the University of Oregon

Shaw becomes just the second head coach in the program's history.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Chelsea (White) Shaw has been named head acrobatics and tumbling coach at the University of Oregon, Director of Athletics Rob Mullens announced Thursday.

A former student-athlete at UO, where she was part of the Ducks' first two National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) national championships, Shaw returns to Eugene after a successful head coaching debut at Gannon University in 2014.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chelsea Shaw as our new acrobatics and tumbling coach,” Mullens said. “As a former student-athlete at the University of Oregon, she brings a unique perspective on an outstanding student-athlete experience. With her infectious enthusiasm for the University of Oregon and the sport of acrobatics and tumbling, our program will continue to compete for championships.”

Shaw becomes just the second head coach in the program's history, taking over for her former coach Felecia Mulkey, who won four NCATA national titles in five seasons before departing for Baylor last spring.

"It's such an incredible honor to be given the opportunity to work with these uniquely talented young women at the university I love and believe in," Shaw said. “I plan to dedicate every ounce of my energy to building upon the winning tradition this team has built. I look forward to a fifth national championship and to innovating and excelling still more.”

At Gannon, Shaw assembled the school's inaugural acrobatics and tumbling team, guiding the Lady Knights to the NCATA national quarterfinals following a 5-5 mark during the regular season. Two of her athletes won national titles in individual events, while a third was awarded the 2014 Louisa Goodrum Academic Achievement Award as the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average at the championships.

Shaw herself was an NCATA All-American as a junior and senior with the Ducks, and also claimed an individual tumbling national championship during her final collegiate season.

"There is no place like the University of Oregon,” Shaw said. “And there are no stronger, more dedicated athletes than our Ducks.”
