(SALEM, Ore. ) - Police in Salem have arrested a man who is wanted in connection with the assault of a 64-year-old Vancouver, Washington man. Vancouver police say 23-year-old Jason A. Hanson was arrested in Salem on an unrelated matter, and police are working to get Hanson back to Vancouver as soon as possible to face charges in the assault investigation. Hanson and a female allegedly assaulted the man in Esther Short Park on June 23 after the female asked the man for money, Vancouver police said. When the man replied that he didn’t have any, the female used an ethnic slur and hit him with a skateboard, police said. Hanson allegedly then punched him in the head and face. The female suspect, whom police say is a juvenile, is in custody on unrelated charges. Hanson is currently being held at the Marion County Jail.
