(MOSUL, Iraq) - One Oregonian was among five soldiers who died from wounds suffered when their unit encountered an improvised explosive device during convoy operations January 28th in Mosul, Iraq. 21-year old Private Joshua A. R. Young of Riddle, Oregon died in the attack. The other soldiers killed were 26-year old Sgt. James E. Craig of Hollywood, Calif, 37-year old Staff Sgt. Gary W. Jeffries of Roscoe, Texas, 21-year old Specialist Evan A. Marshall of Athens, Georgia, 20-year old Pfc. Brandon A. Meyer of Orange, California. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.
