BIZARRE

A century of savage aggression

Palestine

(LONDON) - A century of savage aggression;
Ethnically cleansing us,
Slow-genociding us,
Slaughtering our babies,
Breaking the bones of our children,
Shooting at point blank our boys and girls,
Imprisoning and torturing our bravest,
Assassinating our finest,
Denying our refugees the right to go back home,
Eradicating our exquisite architectural heritage,
Dissecting and disconnecting our towns,
Uprooting our fruit and olive trees,
Stealing our water and resources,
Destroying our Biblical villages,
Demolishing our homes,
Mutilating our landscape,
Deforming our valleys,
Maiming our hills,
Polluting our environment,
Desecrating our places of worship,
Violating the sanctuary of our ancestors,
Defecating  our cultural buildings,br>Disfiguring our treasured and much loved land into a nuclear dump,
Transforming our peaceful, hospitable, inclusive, agricultural, life-fostering spiritual Holy Land,
Into a satanic, exclusivist, tribalistic, unholy, militaristic fortress
For the production of weapons of mass destruction.
Then,
After all that;
They get surprised that
WE DO NOT PARTICULARLY LOVE THEM !
HELLO…
How can one "love" evil?
Are they really humans,
Or was I right in my childhood perception ?

 * * * * *

When I was a little girl, and because people in my village used to speak of them in fear and whispers, for the massacres and bloodshed caused by them -Deir Yassin is just next door, so for many years I used to think that they are huge scary monsters

Nahida Izzat is a Jerusalem-born Palestinian refugee who has lived in exile for over forty two years, after being forced to leave her homeland at the tender age of seven in 1967, during the six-day war. She has a degree in mathematics, but art is one of her favorite pastimes. She loves hand-made things and so makes dolls, cards, and most of her own clothes. She also writes poetry, participates in written dialogues and believes in building bridges, not walls.

She started writing when her friends insisted she should write about her memories, experiences and feelings as a Palestinian.When she did it all came out sounding—she was told—like poetry! So she self-published two books: I Believe in Miracles, and Palestine the True Story.

Her dream is to return back home to a free and liberated Palestine.

If you like poetry and are intrigued by the notion of learning more about Palestine, you can visit Nahida's blog Poetry for Palestine for more of her writings; prose, poems, letters and dialogues.
