The RPP Commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of the Liberation of the Auschwitz Nazi Death Camp by Soviet troops.

The international community has not learned the lessons from these Genocides.

(LONDON) - The Rwanda People’s Party (RPP) wishes to join with the people of Israel and people from all over the world to mark the 71st anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Death Camp.

In this camp, up to three million Jews were cruelly murdered by German Nazis. On this date, the RPP wishes to call on the world to remember all those who died at this camp and to honour the soldiers of the former Soviet Union who helped to liberate the concentration camp.

Auschwitz was liberated by Soviet troops, on the 27th of January 1945. The Soviet military freed the inmates of the camp and ended their suffering. The RPP would like to salute and remember at this time the bravery, resilience and determination of Soviet Troops and their officers during the liberation of Auschwitz.

On this day we should also pause and give thanks and remember the allied troops who liberated other Concentration Camps, such as Dachau and Bergen-Belsen.

The RPP applauds the German government for seeking to make German Nazis accountable for the Holocaust and brought to justice and also for ensuring that the victims of the Holocaust are not forgotten.

We call on other members of the international community to emulate the German government’s heroism to ensures that victims of genocide and other crimes against humanity are not forgotten, and the German resolution to bring all the perpetrators of genocide to account for their crimes.

At the same time that the world is commemorating the 71st anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz Death Camp; we are also soon approaching in April another sad commemoration. That of the 22nd Anniversary of the Tutsi Genocide in Rwanda.

The international community has not learned the lessons from these Genocides. It is still is reluctant to intervene to stop Genocides and crimes against humanity happening elsewhere at an early stage.

The slow-motion response to Genocides and crimes against humanity appears to have been sanctioned by the international community because of politics and out of self-interest. This is quite wrong and unacceptable according to all the norms of civilised nations and moral behaviour.

The RPP calls on all those who deny the Holocaust and other Genocides not to be allowed to spread their lies. The RPP believes that all nations and people have a moral duty to unite to fight genocide, impunity, hatred and bigotry, revisionists and pro-genocide ideologies in whatever form.

Those who deny any Genocide insult the survivors of Genocides. They want to continue inflicting more suffering and torment on these innocent victims.

On this week, when the globe marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the world should commit itself to punish those who perpetrated or perpetrating genocide and to bring them to justice and to recognise, support and empower the genocide survivals and their descendants to overcome their experiences and to move-on and fulfil their potential.

There is a lack of political will, to prevent genocides and crimes against humanity including rape, that is employed as a weapon in war to humiliate and demoralise the victims and their family members.

Without early intervention, there are dire consequences for those at risk of Genocide and crimes against humanity. This inaction of the international community has meant that Genocides and crimes against humanity have not been averted before they begin and this has put the international community’s slogan of “Never Again” to genocide in doubt.

The Rwanda People’s Party (RPP) once again, want to join the Great people of Israel and the rest of the international community to commemorate the week of the 71st Anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz.

Let us all work together that the world does not witness another holocaust and genocide and other crimes against humanity similarly to those witnessed 71 years back in Poland or elsewhere in the world.

May God bless all those who liberated Auschwitz, those who survived the Death Camp and at this time we also remember all those who died in the Camp and during its liberation.
