(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Clackamas County Sheriff's Office investigators are seeking a suspect responsible for assaulting a 73-year-old female, commandeering her automobile, and then driving her and the victim's vehicle into downtown Portland, Saturday afternoon. Detective Jim Strovink with the Clackams Sheriff's Office, says Saturday at approximately 3:00 p.m. a 73–year old white female had just departed Maddy's Deli; located at 10405 SE 82nd Avenue, in Clackamas. "This woman entered her automobile and was situated inside this vehicle, when a white male assaulted her and forced her into the passenger seat of her automobile," Strovink said. "This male subject then drove the victim - by an unknown route - for more than an hour. At approximately 4:00 p.m. this subject exited the commandeered vehicle, leaving this woman and her vehicle in the 800 block of SW Broadway, between Taylor and Yamhill, in downtown Portland." Strovink says the vehicle has been recovered by law enforcement. "As a result of this criminal incident, the victim suffered significant soft tissue damage and is not able to provide a statement to media. The victim has since been treated and released from a local hospital." He says her injuries include extensive bruising from the assault; which include strangulation injuries caused by the suspect. She remains in a significant amount of pain, according to Strovink. The suspect is described as a white male adult, 30-40 years of age, approximately five foot eight inches tall, with an average build and light brown hair. This suspect is also reported to have been wearing eye glasses, and to have been wearing a dark colored jacket, and kit cap. The victim said the cap has some type of yellow emblem on the front. Strovink says the victim was driving a blue 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Officers of the Portland Police Bureau and detectives of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit continue to work on this case. Anyone with information about this crime, or who might have seen the vehicle, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. Sunday, is requested to contact the CCSO Tip Line at 503-723-4949. What is this State coming too? Well, just look at our leaders and you can figure it out. Assaulting a person in that age is just sick. Oh well. I pray for the victim for quick recovery from her injuries. I guess the emotional damage is going to take a long time.
