(SALEM, Ore.) - The latest figures published by the Israel Hotels Association (IHA) show that the number of tourists in October dropped 21% from the same time last year.

According to the Tel Aviv Times, figures published by the IHA indicates that the decline in Israel's foreign tourism is directly related to problems involving security.

Other data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) that monitor the status of Israeli Tourism show a 25% drop in tourist arrivals in Israel.

The statistics also showed that tourists have booked a hotel but never checked in or even arrived to visit Israel because there have been strong clashes and insecurity in recent months, which led to a 63 percent decline in attracting tourists.

Reports also suggest that tourism in other areas, such as "the Dead Sea", "Tiberias" and "Eilat" has also dropped some 26 to 45 percent.

Published figures show that tourism in Israel has declined steadily over the past two years, and that interest in tourism takes a further downturn during times of violent and intense conflict.
