White Bird Clinic Announces New Medical Director

White Bird Clinic, located in Eugene, Oregon is a non-profit human service agency that has been serving the people of Lane County for over 40 years.

(EUGENE) - White Bird Clinic recently named Dr. Leigh Saint-Louis as Medical Director of the White Bird Medical Clinic.

Dr. Saint-Louis is Board-certified in Family Medicine. After working for a decade as a community health organizer and perinatal peer counselor, she graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois, with a degree in Biochemistry and extensive study and research in Clinical Psychology. After additional graduate work in Psychology and Sociology, she earned her Medical degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Medicine. She went on to complete her Family Medicine residency at Columbia St. Mary's Family Health Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with dual concentrations in Maternity Care and Behavioral Health.

A resident of Eugene since 2009, Dr. Saint-Louis served as the Medical Team Leader for the Occupy Medical Clinic for 18 months, and continues to maintain a part-time holistic medical practice, located at the Tamarack Wellness Center in South Eugene. Saint-Louis, whose patients call her "Dr. Leigh", has three adult children and one grandchild, and lives with her spouse and housemates in Eugene, sharing their enjoyment of hiking, herbal wildcrafting, vegetarian cooking, art and creative writing, and yoga and mindfulness practice.

As Medical Director, Dr. Leigh will act as a personal physician to Clinic patients, while also overseeing all the services provided by the coordinated care teams of this Patient-Centered Medical Home. She explains, "White Bird's 43-year commitment to social justice, its consistent delivery of state-of-the-art services to people in need, and its consensus-based collective organization, create a perfect fit with my own ideals and practices. I'm very excited to have this opportunity to sustainably expand wellness care for the medically underserved members of our community."
