(CHEMULT) - Two men were uninjured Tuesday afternoon when their plane made an emergency landing in a logged off area about 1/4 mile west of Highway 97 near the junction with Highway 138 south of Chemult.

OSP says at approximately 12:55 PM, a Cessna 172 containing two occupants was enroute from Ashland to Sunriver when it reportedly experienced fuel problems.

The pilot, 71-year-old Donald Karpen, from Talent, made an emergency landing on a snow-covered logged off area about one mile from the Beaver Marsh airstrip.

The plane received front end and wing damage.

Karpen and his passenger, 62-year-old Frederick Stockwell, from Ashland, were not injured.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Mark Crisp advised the pilot will be making arrangements for removal of the plane from the area.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Gilchrist office are completing the investigation.
