(ALBANY) - A two-minute pursuit that led to a serious injury crash began Tuesday afternoon when an Albany Police Officer attempted to stop a brown 1995 BMW near Santiam Highway and Columbus Street in Albany.

The officer says the driver refused to stop and led him on a two minute pursuit which ended in a traffic collision on Waverly Drive south of Grand Prairie Road.

The BMW collided with a 1995 Ford Mustang occupied by a single driver, causing it to roll several times while ejecting three occupants from the vehicle.

One person was transported by REACH air ambulance to a hospital in Portland and four more persons were transported; two to Samaritan Albany General Hospital and two to Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

The Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team (MAAIT) was called out to investigate the collision with the Oregon State Police as the lead agency in the investigation.

Waverly Drive was anticipated to be closed for several hours while the collision is investigated.
