(YORK, UK) - Human Rights Ambassador William Nicholas Gomes has condemned the prime minister of Bangladesh for awarding the police officer who were involved in torturing opposition political leader, Zainal Abdin Farroque. As the Human Rights Ambassador for Salem-News.com, Mr. Gomes is a internationally well know human rights figure, who is working for the prevention torture in Bangladesh. In this letter to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, the Human Rights Ambassador asks for the implementation of 'zero tolerance against torture' by establishing the right to fair trials for every victim of torture. William Gomes asks Prime Minister Seikh Hasina to ensure justice to the parties, and suggests that the government should also initiate thorough reforms of the country's criminal justice institutions including the criminal investigation system, prosecutorial system and the system of administering justice by enabling them to function credibly and independently with judicial mindsets. There is an immediate need of an effective 'witness protection mechanism' in Bangladesh for the sake of establishing justice as well. Mr. Gomes explains to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that he would be happy to discuss these issues, in person or by phone, with her or her collaborators at any time, at her convenience.
