(Salem) - Change brings sadness. Sadness for the loss of what was good and strong. I do not refer to the end of the term of George W. Bush. Very few are sorry to see him go, although as many more believe it is imperative that he be brought to justice if for no other reason than war crimes. Instead I refer to the recent passing of many great artists of the 20th century. Men who influenced my way of thinking. Men without whom I wouldn't be the person I am today.

Their deaths mark the end of an era and the inauguration of Obama marks the beginning of the new. We have a sense of the who the leaders will be, but who will be the artists? Who will be the ones to open our eyes and ears to what they see and listen to in the way they see and hear it?

Meanwhile let's dance in the streets for President Barack Obama. Let us hope he deserves it.
