Drowning Victim Identified

The man's body was discovered just over a week ago.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Family members of a drowning victim whose body was discovered in January, were contacted and have identified the body as that of 23-year old Stephen Luis Shaver.

Stephen Shaver's remains were located by the Marion County Sheriff's Office on January 10th 2009, when they responded to a report of a body found along the bank of the North Fork River at the North Fork County Park.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, says when deputies arrived, it appeared the body had been in the water for some time and it was difficult to make an immediate identification.

The subsequent investigation led to the conclusion that the drowning victim whose body was discovered in January, is that of 23-year old Stephen Luis Shaver.
