(SALEM) - Salem Fire and Police spent their morning battling a serious structure fire at Club Illusion in North Salem. They will remain on scene for several more hours. The public is asked to avoid that area if at all possible.

Laird Case, Deputy Fire Marshal with the Salem Fire Department, says the fire was reported at 4:00 a.m. this morning.

Due to the weather and road conditions, the public is asked to take extreme caution if traveling through the area where public safety personnel are working.

The structure, Club Illusion, was fully involved when crews rolled onto the scene, it is located at Pine St NE and Front St NE in Salem.

Road conditions for emergency crews were not favorable. The public is asked to take caution while driving around the public safety workers in this area.

It's too soon to know what the cause of this fire was, the club was a former adult dance club located with its back doors facing the Willamette River.

In recent years the club has been billed as a nightclub with regular live music held every week. The building had been open as a nightclub under the current name for a little over a year.

Fire crews will be on the fire scene for a few hours extinguishing hot spots. Case says the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire investigators will not be able to enter the building until it can be determined to be safe. This is video from the scene recorded by Jerry Freeman:
