(SALEM, Ore.) - State police investigators say an 18-year old female died Wednesday evening when she was struck by two vehicles in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Kuebler Road in Salem. Sergeant Mike Stupfel with Oregon State Police says the woman's next of kin have not been notified and names of all involved persons will be released Thursday.

Stupfel says that just before 6:30 PM, a 2002 Lexus sport utility vehicle was southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 252 in the far right lane when it struck the victim in the traffic lane.

After that, a second southbound vehicle, a Toyota pickup, also drove over the victim after the initial collision. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two involved drivers were not injured.

Stupfel says Oregon State Police troopers from the Salem and Capitol Mall offices responded to the scene and are continuing the investigation.

Salem Fire & Rescue and ODOT also assisted at the scene. One of three southbound lanes was closed for about 90 minutes during the investigation.

He said no further information available for release tonight.
