(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon Restaurant Association's Board of Directors finalized the selection of Steve McCoid as President & CEO at their January 15th Board meeting. McCoid will replace Mike McCallum who has been tabbed for an assignment as the National Restaurant Association's Chief Strategy Officer. Steve McCoid takes over the reins of one of Oregon's most powerful and influential trade associations. ORA represents over 2,000 members and 3,400 establishments statewide. McCoid will lead the 25 person headquarter and field staff in their service to operators and purveyors of Oregon's restaurants. Restaurants are the largest private-sector employer in Oregon and ORA is often at the forefront of business groups on issues at the state legislature and in Oregon's communities. ORA provides buying programs for thousands of restaurant companies in the areas of worker's compensation insurance, property & casualty insurance, health insurance and credit card processing. Through its education foundation, ORA trains over 50,000 industry employees annually in food safety and safe alcohol service. ORA also produces the Northwest Foodservice Show that attracts over 10,000 industry attendees and over 500 exhibitors. Mike McCallum has served as President & CEO for nine years. McCoid has served as his Chief Operating Officer for ORA during that same period. McCoid brings into his new role his previous 16-year experience as CEO of the Oregon Grocery Association. ORA Board Chairman Joe Benetti said in announcing McCoid, "Steve will continue the strong staff leadership we've enjoyed at ORA. He has been an integral player in ORA's success for the past nine years. We're looking forward to working with Steve in pursuing our mission to establish the restaurant and hospitality industry as a primary socio-economic driver for our State." McCoid will assume his new role on March 1st, 2008. In addition to this change, ORA's long time Director of Government Affairs, Bill Perry, will assume the title of Vice President of Government Affairs.
