(SALEM, Ore.) - Willamette University will host a free public forum Friday, January 18th at the Montag Center on the Willamette campus. The event will provide information about the Mill Creek Watershed, offer an opportunity for public and private shareholders to join together in protecting the watershed, and provide information about the Forest to Capitol Project. Interested citizens will learn how they can become involved in their own backyard watershed. An open house begins at 5:00 PM and includes Willamette University faculty and students, and city and county speakers, along with information booths. The forum begins at 5:45 PM with a variety of speakers including Joe Bowersox, environmental science professor from Willamette University and coordinator of a large Mill Creek monitoring, research and restoration project. Adam Stebbins, Oregon State University (OSU) graduate student and project researcher who works with the Mill Creek Watershed Research Group will be in attendance. Other participants include Scott Eden and Mary Logalbo, with the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District; Justin Boyinton and Heather Flanary with the City of Salem Storm Water Monitoring Team; Dan Hoynacki, with the OSU Extension Service in Marion County, and the Sustainable Communities Agent and the Youth Enviro Squad.
