Jan-14-2007 20:41TweetFollow @OregonNews Four Oregon Dentists Fall Victim to International Fraud RingSalem-News.comDuring a four-week period, twenty fraudulent orders, valued at $45,472.78, were placed intended for shipment to the Salem address.
(SALEM) - With the Internet and modern day cell phone services, International identity thieves can attack their victims anywhere in the world, including Oregon. One case that the Salem Police Department worked last month involves an ID thief and four dentists from Bend, Portland, Milwaukie and Albany. Salem Police say it began when a man with a Middle Eastern accent who is familiar with dental jargon ordered dental implant materials over the telephone. They say he represented himself as the dentist, claiming he was opening a new office in Salem, while using the dentist’s name and home office information. Police say that when the dentist did not already have an account with the dental supply vendor, the suspect used a stolen credit card number, asking for the products to be shipped overnight to the Salem office, which actually turned out to be a rental house. Investigators say that just prior to the beginning of the deliveries, an accomplice arrived from Texas for a visit with the resident of the Salem house, and was paid money for each package that was re-shipped out of the country. During a four-week period, twenty fraudulent orders, valued at $45,472.78, were placed intended for shipment to the Salem address. The orders involved the four Oregon dentists and nine dental supply vendors throughout the United States. The re-shipper was arrested. TIPS for Individuals: Do not re-ship merchandise or checks for anyone, especially if you meet the person via the Internet. Do not accept Internet offers to open an “AT HOME” re-shipping business. It is probably a SCAM, and you may get arrested. If you receive a package, and it is addressed to a person who does not live or work at your address, do not accept the package. If you believe a package is related to fraud or theft, contact your local law enforcement agency. Odds are you will become a victim of Identity Theft. Everyone should monitor his or her credit report each year. You can order a free copy of your credit report each year at www.annualcreditreport.com. TIPS for Businesses: If you own a business, there is enough information available on the Internet and through other resources to commit identity theft against you or your business. Prevention is the key reducing your losses. Establish and enforce security protocol for all customer, vendor and data files. Statistically, 70% of identity thefts occur because of dishonest employees. Verify all accounts payable invoices. Watch for alternate shipping addresses. If you are a vendor, verify all orders that are shipped to an address other than established shipping addresses. Verify new shipping addresses. If you own a business and your business becomes a victim of fraud, you may also become the personal victim of Identity Theft. The identity thief also personally attacked one of the mentioned dentists. and understand it wtiuoht changing the point.THIS IS WHAT I SAID-"I don't think you can make a logical arguement for your views." NOT!" you don't think I can make a logical argument"What I said was that you are NOT making logical arguements to fully explain your views. I am NOT talking about issues! And the 'of course', means exactly what you said, 'I am personally going to hold the dems feet to the fire.'I agree with that statement and that I will hold your feet to the fire in making that statement. What is so illogical about that?FTGF!

R-Hood: Be careful, anon-mask cannot hide your attitude per name... That's why society requires "police state", to control the few who rip off when can-do. Rest must then apply that "painful consequence" for any unprincipled behavior.

at least give them credit for ripping off the right people! ,it's not like the dental association of drillers and fillers haven't been rippin' us or anything like that, hell no,they wouldn't do that.,would they?

O-tan: Was Bill Mauldin. His note:"If I used outside ideas, I would use this one." This was idea: Mitchell in Oval Office, hands phone to Nixon: "It's Genneen, from San Diego...collect". Can you recall ? I'll bet yes.

Osotan: Once was brash enough to offer long-famous Chicago cartoonist my own content for his next-one, on political issue. He sent me kind note "I prefer to roll my own" --with squiggle-sig...framed on wall here. Gotta ck auction-value now --he long gone. "Listen" to Comments for pub-opinion values, reflecting variety of audiences...some more obtuse, some abstract, some simply long-gone...but all fun, and learn from all.
Osotan January 16, 2007 5:32 am (Pacific time)
Henry.,the more I think about it..,why not? the "comments" are often intermingled with simultanious breaking news observations and reactions and are sometimes off the wire participation wise in a day or so while other also important stories scroll into there place.,and even stuff others have written isn't always "connected" but the readers would be warned just by the title!, something like "digital toilet.,your turn to really let go" Well?.,what do you think?.,would Royko buy it or what?
Henry Ruark January 16, 2007 5:20 am (Pacific time)
OsBs: Digital too quiet; this one gurgles, while I chortle...also digital chokes, like shredder, on massive mean mess many manage to make sound meaningful.
Osotan January 16, 2007 2:56 am (Pacific time)
how about "digital toilet" then?
Henry Ruark January 15, 2007 11:17 pm (Pacific time)
OS - BS: Got one already; guess what I use ! So handy, and shape's jus right, too...don't mind if it sometimes gurgles...
Osotan January 15, 2007 9:55 pm (Pacific time)
Henry; yeah, something like that, then.,speaking for myself of course,I'd always have a venue.
Henry Ruark January 15, 2007 8:40 pm (Pacific time)
O-S: Simply facilikating to the masses...you know: "Give the public what it wants".
Osotan January 15, 2007 7:47 pm (Pacific time)
open a B.S. comment box?
Henry Ruark January 15, 2007 7:23 pm (Pacific time)
To all: Write at 8th-grade level and you miss 1/4th of adults; at 12th-g/l you miss 1/2; at college g/l, it is 90%. Where would you place B.S. message ?
Osotan January 15, 2007 6:01 pm (Pacific time)
What's this got to do with the dentists drilling holes in minute deposits of calcium @ a hundred bucks an hour?
Henry Ruark January 15, 2007 5:43 pm (Pacific time)
B.S.: In other words: "I know that you believe you understand what you think I said but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." -- Anonymous but very useful.
Henry Ruark January 15, 2007 5:25 pm (Pacific time)
B.S.: You got it just right,friend !
Bartholimule Sypson January 15, 2007 3:05 pm (Pacific time)
Henry: I could'nt agree with you more. We haven`t really used the system we now have. I beleive that if the nationalistic proponderance was to fascilkitate to the masses that the ego's of the lessers were greater than that of the bassalists that it would permanantly lambast the final frontier to the end of time and that my friend is what I`m talking about. Do you agree?
Henry Ruark January 15, 2007 11:24 am (Pacific time)
Al: American citizens fall into about 150th-slot on world role of voters actually acting by that choice...gotta check count but it's at least that bad !! SO --until we use system as Founders founded it, finally, after furious Federalist Papers profound discourse, we have NOT used SYSTEM we NOW HAVE! Makes sense to make it work rather than cut-run to some other consummate confusion.

I forgot the failed and never should have been "War On Drugs" for adults. You can throw that one in the garbage too. It is all so absurd considering that the C.I.A. distributes drugs but on the record pretends to be against it. "The Truth and Lies of 9/11" by Mike Ruppert covers this reality that all so many inner city people are aware of. Without drug distribution our economy would collapse. Only get your information on the internet not MSM. Soon the internet will be censored. It is already selectively sabotaged in places.

Here is an example of something that law enforcement is needed desperately for....not petty motor vehicle and parking meter type incidents.
