Chicago Man Arrested for Bomb Threat, Says He was on 'Jihad Against the White Devil'
The man reportedly yelled racial slurs at the police and proclaimed that he was on a “jihad against the white devil.”
(CHICAGO) - A Chicago man was arrested after he allegedly made a bomb threat while aboard a CTA bus on Monday.
Caleb Russell, 23, was arrested by police in Chicago and charged with making a bomb threat. According to witnesses, Russell was yelling derogatory remarks and threatened to blow the bus up. He reportedly yelled racial slurs at the police and proclaimed that he was on a “jihad against the white devil.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, Russell was on a westbound No. 66 Chicago Avenue bus when he reportedly yelled that he would “blow this **** up” while shouting other derogatory remarks.
Officers on patrol reportedly noticed the bus stopped in the middle of the intersection, and when they investigated, passengers told police Russell had been yelling derogatory remarks, and threatened to blow up the bus.
His bond was set at $90,000 on Tuesday, CBS Chicago reports. He is due back in court on Monday.
According to the Huffington Post, the incident has led conservative blogger Pamela Geller to blame CAIR-Chicago, whose executive director Ahmed Rehab sponsored a pro-Muslim “My Jihad” ad campaign in response to Geller’s “Defeat Jihad” campaign. We knew it wouldn’t take long for someone to try to use this incident for political gain.
