Jan-10-2011 17:11TweetFollow @OregonNews Revolt of the Underclass: Terrible VengeanceCommentary by Dr. Phil Leveque Salem-News.comWas the weekend shooting a sign of America's crumbling economy?
(MOLALLA, Ore.) - The attempted assassination of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the epidemic of these kind of events is a sign and symptom of what is going wrong in this country. My mother remarking on this during the depression of 1929 et cetera said “those who have gets and those who don’t have, don’t”. There was a lot of prescience in her remarks. Nowadays when the top 2 or 5% of our citizens own as much or more of the country than the lower 90%, it doesn’t take a genius to see what has happened and is happening to this country and the middle and lower classes. With 14 million workers out of jobs and maybe 10 million homes in foreclosure the future looks mighty grim. I wrote about this May 10, 2010 with the title Middle Class Destruction: Destroyed by Bank Bandits. I noticed in a computer review of this subject that many others wrote and posted about the same subject. With the more obvious recession/depression rearing its ugly head it is also obvious (to me anyway) that some of our citizens will resort to the war cry “I’m damned sick of what is going on and I won’t take it anymore!” There will be further copy cat events. Whether this is temporary insanity or frustration anger makes little difference. If a person loses his job or can’t get one, loses his home, loses his car and is destitute, anything can happen. The shooter in this case, shot the wrong person and did make a statement. The other side of the coin is that the upper class really doesn’t care. They are insulated and protected by the same people of the destitute underclass. Will anything really be done to correct this?? – PROBABLY NOT. ________________________________________
