Former KATU-TV Personality Wins 2009 Professional Photographer of the Year

After less than one year as a full-time portrait photographer, former KATU meteorlogist Julia Radlick, wins 2009 Oregon State Professional Photographer Of The Year.

Radlick was awarded Best Overall Portrait, Best Black & White Image, Best Children’s Portrait, Best Fine Art Image, Best Portrait of Two, and garnered two perpetual trophies for highest overall score and first-time entrant, plus she received four state Merit awards.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Parting ways with television news mid-2008 amid uncertain economic times, Julia Radlick, CPP, began her new uncharted career in children's portrait photography design. Building her studio, Jewel Images from the ground up, she challenged a lukewarm business climate to prove it is possible to change careers sucessfully!

She is now one of the leading photographic professionals in Oregon with plans to expand her studio to Bend, Oregon by spring 2009.

Over the weekend Professional Photographers of Oregon honored her with 11 awards for her work in portraiture and fine art. In a field of over 120 professional entrants, Julia’s work scored highest in several divisions and overall. She was awarded Best Overall Portrait, Best Black & White Image, Best Children’s Portrait, Best Fine Art Image, Best Portrait of Two, and garnered two perpetual trophies for highest overall score and first-time entrant, plus she received four state Merit awards.

Jewel Images is a boutique-style studio, specializing in Newborn, Maternity, Children, and Family portrait art. Julia’s style is couture-inspired and encompasses the ultimate in fine art imagery. Her work is emotional and dramatic, grabbing hearts and giving her clients their family legacy in a way that touches them on the deepest levels. Her clients come from all over the west coast and Canada to commission her work. Her 4000 square foot studio is located in Historic Old Town Portland.

Julia routinely gives back to her community with her art. She is the leading photographer in Oregon for Celebrating Adoption. (celebratingadoption.org.)

She routinely offers complimentary sessions to families who have adopted children both locally and internationally within the last 12 months- using emotional imagery to encourage adoption all over the Northwest.
