(JACKSONVILLE) - A number of agencies are investigating a Tuesday night shooting involving a Jacksonville-area man and a Jacksonville police sergeant during an attempt to elude in rural Jackson County. No one was injured and the suspect is in custody on multiple charges including one count of Attempted Aggravated Murder. Tuesday at approximately 11:00 PM, Jacksonville Police Sergeant Dan Moore attempted to stop a vehicle in Jacksonville for disobeying stop sign and speed violations. He says the vehicle's driver, 36-year old Anthony Robert Fogleman of Jacksonville attempted to elude his police vehicle southwest from the city through Ruch for nearly ten miles until pulling into the entrance to his driveway at 909 Cantrall Road. Investigators say Fogleman stopped his vehicle along his driveway entrance that was about 100 yards long. Sergeant Moore stopped behind the vehicle and got out. Fogleman also exited his vehicle and began yelling at Sergeant Moore who then fired his Taser with no apparent effect on Fogleman. Fogleman reached into his vehicle and came back out firing at least one round from a handgun. Sergeant Moore returned fire as he retreated. Fogleman got back into his vehicle and drove to his residence where he barricaded himself inside with his wife and four children ages 2 to 16. Shortly afterwards, Oregon State Police troopers and Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived to assist. Jackson County Sheriff's Office SWAT members were deployed to the scene. Prior to SWAT involvement, Fogleman surrendered and was taken into custody. The Jackson County Major Crime Team is investigating the incident. The investigative team is comprised of officers from Oregon State Police, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Ashland Police, Medford Police, and Central Point Police. The Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division crime lab personnel are assisting. Fogleman was lodged in Jackson County Jail on one count of Attempted Aggravated Murder, Assault in the First Degree, DUII – Drugs, Resisting Arrest (3 counts), and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. Bail was set at $1,000,000. Sergeant Moore, age 52, is a 12-year veteran with Jacksonville Police Department. According to Chief Dan Towe, Sergeant MOORE has been placed on paid administrative leave, a normal procedure in officer-involved shooting incidents. No further information is being released at this time. The investigation will be provided to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for review and further action.
