Cartoon Strip: Nota Bene by Leonardo No. 30 - Government Conspiracy

This is the thirtieth installment of the Salem-News.com original series "Nota Bene by Leonardo" by Salem cartoonist Glen Bledsoe.

(SALEM) - Some readers may feel that Nota Bene descended to its lowest level with reports on celebrity break-ups, diet tips and births. Some will defend it as merely a frothy kind of entertainment--mostly harmless when taken in small doses. Others may view it as a kind of anthropological description of life among the parallel universes as we find it. I must confess, however, that I am none too proud to be such an instrument. To compensate for this banality I have decided to turn the eye of scrutiny on our own world. I have long considered moving toward a higher art form, and I have at last settled on it. Documentary! I am proud to announce the first such in this series: Government Conspiracy.

I vaguely remember it. I did see and hear Leo Kottke (yet another namesake) and John Fahey at The Silent Knight (or was it Night?). That might not have been Old Town. I forget. It's been decades. Fahey spent his last days in Salem. I once bumped into him at Kinkos. I heard his voice. I turned around, and there he was in all his bearded glory. He was astonished that I recognized him (a solo guitar instrumentalist) by his voice. He had said, "Thank you very much," in a "Live in Tasmania" recording, and it was stored in some indelible reservoir in my brain. We human can be such peculiar beings after all, but all the more interesting for it.

well same to ya dude! and I wanted you to hear it here first! I'm thinking of sort of like a galactic version of the Oscars for the parllel universal despots from the get go up till now. I just "got it" today so no pat pend., and did you ever go to "Wainright's" in old town?

Government Conspiricy?, Mr. Leonardo? Rubbish!!, the government is there to define and enforce order, Mr. Leonardo., for your own good! What you infer is chaos. Unacceptable! give us your sources!, cooperate and it will be easier on you later.,otherwise there'll be 16 Corvallis fascists at your place of work! We know who you are! So, quake in your Birkenstalks Leo!,we got you this time!,alien beings? Space vehicles! Rubbish!

Flash; we've been trying to tell you this for months Leonardo!., this is an "alien press" contacting the third spheroid!, and we can't believe it!,we finally got through to the media directly!, right here first,!! while bozo's (we call them that and other things too),in D.C. and Geneva say, "nobody but us". Nice imagry on our scanners! far out dude!, I thought I'd glimpsed the "Marcus Garvey" in the spiral!, they've been getting signals for a few moths but no relay capabilities yet, it's no secret.,so tell'm like it is!
