(Salem) - Due to transport issues with the unit's airframes, the arrival of the 1042nd Medical Company, (Air Ambulance) based out of Salem will be delayed.

The unit was expected to arrive in Portland this evening and now will arrive sometime towards the end of the week, a definite date and time is not yet available. The more than 30 members expected to return have been serving a six month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The delay is due to movement of the Blackhawk Helicopters. Originally scheduled to be shipped via C5 aircraft, this aircraft was not suited for landing at Baghram, Afghanistan. Other arrangements are currently being made, and unit members are currently in Germany awaiting the arrival of their aircraft.
