(NEWPORT, Ore.) - On Friday, February 20, 2009, and Saturday, February 21, 2009, the Benton County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Oregon State Police, will participate in a DUII saturation patrol. The focus will be on Highway 20, between Corvallis and the Lincoln County line. The annual Newport Seafood and Wine Festival is being held in Newport during the weekend, and Highway 20 has historically had a lot of traffic. Two to three deputies and one to two troopers will be working special overtime, focusing primarily on arresting drunk drivers. The overtime is paid through a grant from through the Oregon State Sheriff's Association and from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police will also have deputies working Highway 20 in Lincoln County.

Really Jimmy? So are one of those people in America now that does not want to take responsibility for his own actions when he knows it is wrong? Lets see, you pay for and drink the wine and then get behind the wheel. All your decisions. And yet you want to blame the State for not giving you a shuttle because of your actions after you get the DUII? How about putting an extra $20 in your pocket for a cab or getting a close by motel room like a resposnible adult would do. Or hey here's another suggestion. How about a Designted Driver? Take responsibility instead of blaming someone else for your poor decisions! This way of thinking is the problem with our American society today. I'm sure you're also the type of person that would then blame the police for not being out to enforce the law if you were hit by a drunk driver too.

So... The state sells you the Wine (OLCC controlled) at a location nowhere near your house, then waits for you to drive home and nail you for a DUII?!? How about a free shuttle instead?
