(SALEM, Ore.) - The Salem Human Rights & Relations Advisory Commission will host a Community Meeting on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, on the topic, "What You Always Wanted to Know About the Americans with Disabilities Act".

The event will be held in the Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty Street SE, in the Anderson Room.

The regular business meeting will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by the Community Meeting at 6:45 PM.

This event will enable people in the community to ask any questions regarding access and the rights of people with disabilities; issues of concern to landlords, business owners and other service providers; plus an opportunity to learn about new ADA regulations added in January 2009.

Invited guests will include Conrad Kuehn, from the Northwest ADA Information Center at the University of Washington, in charge of providing technical assistance on ADA issues.

In addition, representatives from Oregon regulatory and advocacy groups will be present to field questions and hear experiences of those in attendance.

The public is invited to the Commission's business session, as well as the Community Meeting to follow. A flyer for the event is attached.

There is no charge, and light refreshments will be available. For further information, contact Marilyn Johnston, Salem Human Rights, 503-588-6261, or mejohnston@cityofsalem.net.
