(SALEM) - Eschelon Telecom, Inc., a provider of integrated communications services to small and medium sized businesses in the western United States, announced Wednesday that it has opened a customer operations center located at 3991 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE in Salem. The center will perform customer service, order processing and billing inquiry functions and serves as a backup to the existing five local sales and customer service offices throughout Oregon. “Our local customer service strategy is the key to our customer support model however we compliment that with some centralized operations to ensure the fastest response time possible,” stated Danny de Hoyos, Eschelon’s Vice President of Customer Service and Service Delivery. “This strategy has allowed Eschelon to consistently deliver a call answer time significantly below the industry average and our peers. Nearly half of our access lines are in Oregon and Washington -- so locating a Center in Oregon made sense.” The center will initially add a staff of twenty four associates to the approximately 125 Eschelon employees currently based in Oregon. The center is expected to grow over time along with Eschelon’s customer base. Eschelon’s existing customer operations center is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the company’s corporate headquarters. “An added benefit of opening another operations center is that we will now have complete redundancy and geographic diversity to ensure consistently high service levels despite weather and other regional issues,” continued de Hoyos. “A local customer service operation is great, except when the entire region is facing a storm. Eschelon customers will now have the comfort of knowing we will be ready to serve them no matter what the local conditions.” About Eschelon Telecom, Inc.
