From Whence Cometh This Wisdom?

Greatest Function of Democratic Dialog Is Wisdom Shared - Founders Discovered Principles Which Make It So.

(SEASIDE, Ore.) - This weekend in 2012 sees our nation shoulder-deep in contradiction and conflict over the basic functions of our democracy.

The brute fact is that much of the murderous muddle comes from lack of wisdom rather than the containing status of "a campaign year":

The demands of that strange time illuminating mostly the mildly-insane machinations within the remaining wreckage of a once-major group.

Yet our Founders discovered/invented a system which can, has and will continue to contain and guide whatever storms of sense and sensibility may come and despite the distortions, perversions and impure iimpoverishment of common sense committed by so many, for so long --and for such trivial reasons.

The GOPster-gang is violently violating commonsense cooperation to come up with a viable candidate --forcibly elevated to candidate/stature despite desperate defalcations (not only of campaign dollars !) and deep-dividing faulty-ideation and politicizing patterns more permissible within a withering theocracy.

Let's get right to the basics:

1. Our Founders are famous for fulfilling classic-study demands for deep knowledge of the past, providing historical guidance and rich documentation for every one of their multiple and massive-impact choices to shape our democracy.

2.  To that past knowledge and practical/working experience they added much they themselves had survived in similar struggles with England's ruling monarchy.

3.  Among many operational principles they derived which descend to us was
the fact of essential fair treatment for all, by all, of all, in all matters economic and social.

4.  That demanded the master-stroke of their massive experiment --the truly responsible citizen, given over all else to rational, reasonable consideration of the commonwealth interest, as much and sometimes more than of his own.

5.  Wise beyond their time, class or backgrounds, the Founders knew from their first studies the absolute necessity of deep, ongoing, essential and progressive educational patterns to produce the patriotic citizens to that demanding mold.

Among their very first actions there are many --spread throughout the entire colonial enterprise-- which authoritative historians and social scientists agree were foundations fitted to produce the needed citizen-characteristics. In large part, now, our successes reflect how closely we have followed their definitive actions --and our failures, likewise, where and how far we have departed.

Did their massive experiment work out as they had hoped ?

Terms involved here are so often misapplied and misused in much modern text as to demand definition of just what is meant for clarity here.

We simply recognize that ANY statement or action MAY actually seem precisely as-described by its maker, while seeming wildly divergent --indeed, distorted/perverted-- to many, if not most, others; so here is what we mean when we use these terms in Salem-News:

By "change" we refer to any substantial difference in direction, impact, or definition detectable by the common reader.

"Distortion" is any difference from common understandings involved, as used in general media work,  as brought about by the action described, detectable by the average reader with college-level IQ,

"Perversion" is any difference from the basic foundation-meaning of the fact, process or product here discussed; the alteration of something from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was originally intended.

Those of us enjoying the many benefits today developed from precisely the work and characteristics of our predecessor citizens sometimes forget the truly  forbidding and formidable task faced by our Founders, led by Alexander Hamilton, to establish our economy and financial system and to form, shape and put into action our markets, at every level and of every kind.

Allowing speculators to profit from their junk-debt acquisitions, facing the furious trade and banking wars with the rest of the world, and establishing the American traditions for free and open trade and fair competition occupied Hamilton and leading Americans then as they do now --and for some of the same contentious policies, too.

But nowhere else in this world has there been such a stunning success from anything similar to "the American way" --which is why for a century we were the dream destination for millions of hard-press migrants from all nations, seeking the opportunities and advances we have come to take for granted.

As we face up to some of the negative developments --and there are many, many very serious and sequentially challenging-- it is clear that most of our current difficulties arise as consequences for departing from the clear paths designated for us by our Founders.

The current legislative session --forced into dealing with many/such by just such departures-- must deal with strong delusions, deliberate distortions, and some very pervasive and perverse past and planned actions, all too many tying directly to a process and program termed ALEC:

Trusted by too many for too long albeit known from scratch to be corporate-conceived, Koch Brothers-funded, and lavishly managed by laid-on corporate behavior at pseudo-democratic dialog pay/outs to put the corporate brand firmly on too many so-called "legislative models".

ALEC has been well and firmly and broadly Exposed nationally, by direct action of authoritative investigators, with its embarrassing parts plainly placed on public view.

For the legislative session now in action, concerned citizens acting mutually to analyze draft-law "with the smell of ALEC" is being detailed in summary of questionable points, with the results delivered to every legislator.

Perhaps proper action on such carefully-produced summary sections can assist this session of our Oregon Legislature to make sure that every new law set on the record here-and-later is truly developed by that old Oregon guiding-direction:

"She flies with her own wings !!"

"We the people" expect no less, with each and every new action by this and following Legislatures driven, shaped, guided, worded, developed, dialoged and decided by our elected representatives alone...with no hidden subsidy, none of that mollycoddle over misused campaign cash, and direct return to what our Founding Fathers so clearly intended, invented and developed for us.

Always means more when an ostensible former disagreeing critic finds it wihin persona/professional good reasoning to state agreement-reacher on similar points. Perhaps, Steve, you care to make some further direct references to what was "right" this time", as vs before... We might even find sine further continued agreement, worth working towards in this thrashing sea of massive muddle and malign mischief.
