Department of Defense Reports Casualties in Afghanistan

Two soldiers killed in Afghanistan served in the Army's 101st Airborne Division.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They died February 10th in Salerno, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle.

The soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Killed were:

Spc. Peter J. Courcy, 22, of Frisco, Texas

Pfc. Jason R. Watson, 19, of Many, Louisiana
