(WASHINGTON, DC) - The embattled U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, has stated his intention to step down some time this year. His words were published by the New Yorker.

In a feature story for the magazine's Feb. 17 issue (sub. req.), Holder told Jeffrey Toobin that he will leave his post in 2014, though he also said that he planned to remain as attorney general "well into" the year.

Holder has deflected suggestions that he should step down. As recently as Nov. 19, Holder, the first African-American attorney general in U.S. history, told CBS News that he didn't have "any plans" to step down.

Our unique coverage of Holder includes outing his false denial of knowledge about the "Fast and Furious" gun running operation to arm deadly Mexican cartels, (Holder Lied: DOJ News Release Shows Obama Admin Approved ATF Mexico Weapons Smuggling), and our Investigative Reporter Marianne Skolek's exposure of Holder's role as a private attorney who defended the top executives of Purdue Pharma when they were convicted of having marketed OxyContin as "non lethal" and "non addictive".
