(YUCATAN PENINSULA, Mexico) - A legal reform activist and journalist, who exposed a money laundering operation wherein home loans were being used to funnel pay offs to California judges (http://www.tulanelink.com/ After nearly a decade of reporting on corruption in the legal system, journalist Janet Phelan moved to Mexico, where she has continued to write on issues pertaining to courts and justice. And now, she is being stalked in the seaside town where she resides in Southern Mexico by a judge pro tem and lawyer. Phelan states that she first encountered “Bob” last year, when he was vacationing in the Yucatán. Bob, who is gay, was travelling with a young woman and actively soliciting sex for money from local youth. At first cordial, he reportedly became agitated and hostile after reading some of Phelan’s articles, and began to call her “ a conspiracy whack job,” “nutcase” and other such epithets. When Phelan began to avoid him, Bob became more insistent. Phelan reportedly smacked him after repeatedly asking him to leave her alone. Bob apparently had his own run- in with a legal “conspiracy.” He talks freely about having been set up by the police on charges of receiving stolen property and forced to plea, threatened otherwise with disbarment. According to Bob, this happened after he filed a civil rights suit on behalf of a client against the local police. He recalled that his income dipped perilously and he did not receive any “special judge” assignments for nearly five years following this incident, but reports now being back in good standing with the judicial community. “No more civil rights lawsuits for me, “ he is reported as stating cheerfully. Janet Phelan recently returned from presenting at the Biological Weapons Convention in Geneva (http://www.salem-news.com/ He has provided a false last name, “Ballin.” Anyone knowing Bob’s full name is asked to contact Janet Phelan through her website (janetphelan.com) so she can file a complaint with the authorities. His photo is attached.
