Dec-22-2011 21:00TweetFollow @OregonNews UPDATE: - Report Claiming U.S. Missiles 'hit Iranian village' actually from 2003Salem-News.comThe Daily Mail released a story from 2003 as a new report, there is no current strike on Iran.
(LONDON) - We have determined that the following story was carried in error by the Daily Mail in the UK. It is a 2003 report that was somehow recycled, we presented the material as unconfirmed, we now confirm that the information is carried in error. The report indicated that a pair of U.S. missiles had hit a target in Iran and that the source was the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). A scan of their English site did not reveal the information and that was setting off alarms, however there have been plenty of cases in the past where news is carried in Arabic and other languages and simply not carried on the English versions of their news Websites. We are in an age when Iran is continually threatened by Israel and the United States, and propaganda about the country's ambitions, which are almost always extremely out of context with Iranian media, call perpetually for action against Iran. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-173099/US-missiles-hit-Iranian-village.html

You cannot claim no responsibility, just by presenting the story as unconfirmed. I was able to determine the story was from 2003 with a few searches. You should be more responsible in your journalism. If you cannot confirm something this serious, then wait until you can ... that is your job.

The Daily Mail UK is a tabloid. Posting this type of story with implications of war with Iran is beyond outrageous.

This is BOGUS. The DailyMail article is from 2003.
Editor: No, it is from today, regardless of all else, take a look: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-173099/US-missiles-hit-Iranian-village.html

Unbelievable. This website just lost all credibility for posting an untrue and unconfirmed story. Especially in this context.
Editor: It is presented as unconfirmed.

This is bogus. Here is the english language site for the IRNA (and as you can see, there is no mention of this bombing): http://www.irna.ir/ENIndex.htm
Editor: I don't think we can conclude that, however as we mentioned it is unconfirmed. I did what you did and did not find it on their English site, no argument there. What has happened in the past is that stories are not always translated for the English site, and native speakers translate it, we will find out soon I'm sure.
