Sutherlin Man Arrested on 7-Year old Rape and Sex Abuse Charges

The investigation indicates the victim was abused in both Douglas and Coos counties.

(SUTHERLIN, Ore.) - A detective with the Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division arrested a Sutherlin-area man Friday afternoon for three sex offenses related to allegations involving a known juvenile female in 2002. According to OSP Sergeant Bill Fugate, on December 18, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. OSP arrested 63-year old James M. Stanley of Sutherlin for 3rd-degree Rape, 3rd-degree Sex Abuse, and Using a Child in Display of Sexual Conduct.

An OSP detective began the investigation one month ago after the victim, who is 24 years of age now but was 17 years old when the crimes allegedly happened, reported the crimes.

The investigation indicates the victim was abused in both Douglas and Coos counties.

Stanley was lodged in the Coos County Jail on the above listed charges.

Police say there is no other information available for release.
