(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - McMinnville Police and McMinnville EMS responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of SW Baker Street and SW Keck Drive this evening at 5:35 p.m. near the Roth's and Albertson's shopping centers. A press release from McMinnville Police indicates that Medics and Police personnel arrived on scene and shut down the north bound lanes of Hwy 99W at the location while the pedestrian was treated and the investigation was conducted. The pedestrian, a 10-year old McMinnville boy, was transferred by ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center with serious injuries. At the time of this press release, arrangements were being made to transfer the boy to a Portland area hospital for further treatment. The driver of the vehicle, 45-year old Beverly Lynn Smith, of McMinnville, immediately stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the on-going investigation. Initial investigation indicates that the boy was crossing the highway within a marked cross walk when he was struck. At the time of this release, the investigation is on-going and no citations or other actions have been taken. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call the McMinnville Police Department at 503 434-7307. The McMinnville Police Captain Dennis Marks says their department want to remind pedestrians and motorists to be especially vigilant during inclement weather. "Pedestrians should always be on the lookout for vehicles when crossing streets and motorists should always be on the lookout for pedestrians crossing the roadway. Never assume the other person sees you when crossing." Articles for December 14, 2009 | Articles for December 15, 2009 | Articles for December 16, 2009 | googlec507860f6901db00.htmlQuick Links
