(WASHINGTON DC) - The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched a new website www.GOPHostageTakers.com this week with an online petition demanding Congressman Greg Walden (OR-02) allow a vote on extending middle class tax cuts. Congressman Walden is holding the middle class hostage, refusing to force this vote in order to demand more tax cuts for millionaires.

If Congressman Walden refuses to sign and instead falls in line with Grover Norquist and the extreme wing of the Republican party, he will be sticking the middle class with a $2,200 tax hike at the end of the year.

In the first 24 hours, 130,000 people have signed the petition at www.GOPHostageTakers.com to demand Congressman Walden sign a discharge petition that forces a vote to extend middle class tax cuts. 178 Members of Congress have signed the petition toward the 218 signatures needed to force the vote.

“Congressman Walden has to choose whether to side with Speaker Boehner and Grover Norquist in protecting tax cuts for millionaires or side with Oregon’s middle class instead,” said Jesse Ferguson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  “If Congressman Walden doesn’t act soon he will be sticking the middle class with a $2,200 tax hike all to get more tax cuts for millionaires. House Republicans like Congressman Walden have taken the middle class hostage to get more tax cuts for millionaires.”
