Steve and Savannah: You are talking about a 17 year old boy. We do not even know what his understanding was of English, American culture, law, life, consequences etc. Do you have any idea what kind of stupid things teenagers get themselves into? I am sure you do. The old expression that you can replace property but not a life is something you guys should think about. Don't be so angy, have a little pity. We all make mistakes.

Savannah August 28, 2006 9:58 pm (Pacific time)

I totally agree with you Steve. Very well said

Steve August 28, 2006 12:08 pm (Pacific time)

Everyone is saying how terrible this is.......and it is!! But this "possibly" would not have happened if the "person(s)" involved had respect for other peoples property. Now the uproar is that it was not fenced, not posted, not etc etc. BULL! Respect the property. Second, what ever happened to "common sense?" "Possibly" would not have happened if the swimmer(s) had any sense about them. What do you know about the pond...depth, hazards, chemicals, etc etc. Then revert back to statement #1. Now, some family member is going to sue the pants off the property owner because the swimmer(s) did NOT respect private property and didNOT use common sense. Wake up people!!!!!!!!! That thing on your shoulders is more than just a place for your head hair and a cap/hat.
